
RohS (Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances) is European Union Standard which came into force on the 1st of July 2006 and is included in the Royal Decree 208/2005 of 25th February 2005 and affects all the territories of the EU.
This directive restricts the use of dangerous substances, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent Chrome, polibrominated Binefil (PBB) and polibrominated difficult Ether (PBDE).
Its aim is to prevent contamination of the environment through these damaging agents when electrical equipments end their service life, and together with the WEEE directive (RAEE in Spanish, Recycling of Electronic and Electric Appliances) it tries to minimize the negative impact of these equipments in nature.
