The panels have an outer protection made of tempered glass which allows them to bear very rough weather conditions, such as ice, abrasion, sudden changes in temperature or impacts from hail.

A standard test for their approval is to throw (by means of a pneumatic cannon) an ice ball of pre-established size and consistence against the centre of the glass protection.
