What are the differences between a direct solar pumping and a conventional one?
A conventional solar pumping is made up with panels, regulator, battery, inverter (if it is AC) and the pump. In a direct solar pumping the regulator and the batteries are not used and the inverter is substituted by a cheaper one. This reduces the price of the installation and its maintenance. On the other hand, it can only pump during the day and therefore, in some installations, it is necessary to store water in a tank which would work as a battery. Besides, if the direct pumping system uses a positive transfer, the energy performance is almost twice as much as a conventional pumping, reducing the necessary panels and the cost of the installation, despite the pump being more expansive.
